The Film 'Together' Can Be Streamed, and It Could Strengthen or Shatter Your Partnership.

We present a test for long-term couples who are fans of the horror genre: Sit down with your significant other and stream Together. This critically acclaimed 2025 movie just made its launch on a streaming platform on Hulu. Outwardly, it may seem like conventional physical horror, but within Together lies a deep meditation about our choices in loving our partners.

A Directorial Debut Investigating The Nuances of Love

Together marks the first full-length movie for filmmaker Michael Shanks. It features the real-life married couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie as a couple named Tim and Millie, partners that have been together for a decade. Having wed in reality in 2017, Franco and Brie contribute a particular energy to their characters, masterfully depicting both the strengths and weaknesses of a enduring union.

The narrative begins when Tim and Millie transition from the urban environment to the country for professional reasons. A somewhat stereotypical story element, admittedly, but that’s largely where the cliches conclude. Together becomes as much a psychological exploration of the couple's dynamic as it is a body horror flick.

A Paranormal Spark

While trekking near their country house, a violent storm occurs, and Millie and Tim fall into an underground cave. After a night spent there and eventually escaping, a mysterious influence starts to affect the pair. This force induces a otherworldly bond between them that goes exceeding emotional intimacy.

The entire film is a slow burn fright fest, blending bits of hallucinatory nightmares, disturbing (but not excessively graphic) body horror, and surprisingly comedic interactions (sometimes in the middle of something grotesque). The director weaves these elements together seamlessly and presents them in a gradually swelling atmosphere of fear.

Layered Performances

A great deal of Together is solely Brie and Franco, and they skillfully illustrate countless layers to the dynamic between Tim and Millie. Millie’s confidence and feeling of intimacy is suffering due to a distance. Her underlying frustration of Tim for his unwillingness to pursue anything but his failing musical ambitions slowly bubbles to the surface.

Tim, on the other hand experiences isolation and isolated by Millie, who’s the reason they’ve left the city and far away from his support system. He is terrified of the idea of totally forfeiting his personal autonomy in another person. This fear is intensified by the circumstance he lacks a driver's license and is dependent on Millie for getting around.

Shanks’ smartest move in Together never makes Tim or Millie the definite antagonist.

The couple face the kind of problems that arise in any relationship after ten years. Fundamentally, they continue to care for one another. They still laugh together, offer support, and are vulnerable at times. But under the surface, there’s an unavoidable undercurrent of doubt about their bond.

Symbolism and Metaphor

While the otherworldly presence in Together symbolize these concerns of excessive reliance and giving oneself over to another person, the symbolism never feels hamfisted or pretentious. Instead, these ickier, creepier moments present a ideal counterpart to the relationship narrative. Both the frights and the fights enhance each other symbiotically.

A Divisive Ending

Together’s final act, which won’t be spoiled here, has sparked debate on the film’s ultimate message about codependent relationships. Reports indicate that unattached audience members have seen the movie as a powerful case for avoiding commitment. Meanwhile, a few pairs experiencing tension found that the film ultimately assisted them reconcile.

Whether you’re single or coupled up, your own interpretation could act as a revealing measure of how you view relationships. Will the finale inspire anxiety and horror, or a heartwarming sense of hope? Will you see yourself in either protagonist and scream at your TV, or simply glance toward your other half and say, “We could get through that together”?

Regardless of the outcome, Together is an experiment you can undertake at this very moment.

Together is streaming on the streaming service Hulu as of this moment.
